Alabama Praises Miss California's Gay Marriage Response

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - The Alabama House has approved a resolution that praises Miss USA contestant Carrie Prejean for speaking out against gay marriage.

The House approved the resolution Thursday by Republican Rep. Jay Love of Montgomery on a voice vote.

Prejean was competing as Miss California and finished second after answering a question from judge Perez Hilton concerning gay marriage during Sunday night's televised pageant. She said she felt marriage should be between a man and a woman.

Love said Prejean stuck to her convictions even if it meant losing the pageant.

Love said he has received a number of e-mails and phone calls from across the country since introducing the resolution. He said more than half of those disagreed with the resolution.

Dumb girls don't get to the Miss America padgent. Her answer, though honest, did not show an ability to answer in a way that would not offend. It was a blunder and she paid a high price for it. But I agree with Pyramid one one point - there are important issues that need to be dealt with. Don't waste time on fodder such as this.

This girl is dumb as rocks. Oleander, I have morals and just because they don't coincide with yours doesn't make them wrong. The Alabama house should worry about important things. Seriously who really cares if gays get married, it doesn't affect anyone. I'm sick of the religious right holding back this country's progress.
