MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - Alabama's unemployment rate fell sharply to 7.5 percent in November, a drop officials say was helped by holiday hiring.

The state Department of Labor said Friday the number represents 162,182 people who were jobless last month.

The state's unemployment rate was below the national rate of 7.7 percent, and it's down six-tenths of a percent from October.

The rate of 7.5 percent is also well below the year-ago rate of 8.3 percent.

Labor Commissioner Tom Surtees says the numbers show Alabama employers are expecting a strong holiday shopping season. He says the increase in retail hiring created jobs that may not have been there otherwise.

Shelby County has the state's lowest jobless rate at 4.6 percent, while Wilcox County is highest at 15.9 percent.

Like I said, you're any easy target with a hot button. And talk about the pot calling the kettle black; you're the champ at "complete buffoonery and lack any facts or substance" just like your past 2 looser presidential candidates McCain (and his wacked out vp candidate Palin) and Romney. Both lost to a black man. That must be why you're so mad...

The reason for the drop in the unemployment rate is holiday seasonal hirings in retail, which are the worst jobs for pay and income. Retail usually pays minimum wage or slightly above, and nobody can support themselves much less a family on minimum wages. As we continue towards another recession these jobs will quickly disappear too. America is now a service industry driven economy with little to no manufacturing left inside the US. As more and more people fall off the worker rolls and leave the active workforce the unemployment rate being reported will decline, less people working and looking for work therefore they'll no longer be counted. Yet they will be ever present in entitlements and government assistance programs and payments funded solely by the fewer people working and paying taxes. If anyone thinks that this is sustainable long term and successful like Obama and the Democrats says it is then they are ignorant and will soon see the results of disastrous economic policies they supported.

I know, yes I do know. Obama is the cause of this bad news. Oh wait, it's GOOD news. Must be someone elses fault...
