"The bridge that's being replaced in Saraland was built in 1951." My math says that the bridge is 62 years old if it was built in 1951. Calculators are very cheap and if the brain can't count for you.

The Alabama DOT is not replacing anything, they are contracting it out to the highest and slowest bidder and it may take 50 more years to complete the job. Look at the Michigan Avenue overpass and the two plus years to build a 100' bridge span. Meanwhile it took less than 18 months to build 6 lane 3 mile Interstate-10 bridge that spans over Escambia Bay Florida.
