MOBILE, Ala. (WPMI) Airbus has announced the company that will build the $600 million facility at the Brookley Complex. Hoar Construction, based out of Birmingham, has been selected.

Construction is expected to begin early this summer. The Airbus A-320 passenger planes will be assembled at the new plant in Mobile.

Hoar Project Manager Mike Lanier said the company is more than excited. Lanier said this is by far the biggest project they have ever been contracted for and one of the most unique.

According to the release from Airbus USA, Hoar Construction will "be responsible for managing all aspects of the design and construction of the facility."

Lanier said the building of the facility will create thousands of jobs, which is what was expected with the impact of Airbus in the Port City.

Hoar Project Management already has a big presence in the state and specifically in Mobile, serving clients like Mobile Infirmary and most recently the GulfQuest Museum being built in downtown Mobile.
