HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (AP) - Eight people have been sentenced in federal court on charges they participated in a gun trafficking scheme that allowed firearms to get into the hands of a Mexican drug cartel.

The eight defendants were sentenced by U.S. District Judge Sharon Blackburn in federal court in Huntsville.

U.S. Attorney Joyce White Vance said the weapons included three sniper rifles and various assault rifles.

Blackburn sentenced Gary Lee Madison to almost five years in prison. The other defendants received sentences ranging from six months in prison to probation.

Vance said Madison got the weapons which were either purchased by him or by the other seven defendants. She said 19 of the firearms were recovered by the Mexican Army after they had gotten into the custody of Los Zetas, a drug cartel.

After going through all the federal hoops involved in purchasing "assault" rifles, including paying the $200 transfer tax? Or is the Associated Press lying about them being assaoult rifles?

Everyone should google what happened to Maria Gamez. She's a Mexican beauty queen that was just found dead in a shootout between mexican drug cartels, while being used a human shield. This whole incident happened between Sandy Hook and this a story about Huntsville. It should serve as an obvious, blatant reminder of how biased the media is and how far they will go to protect The Anointed One - because the weapon that killed her was one of the ones involved in the Fast and Furious scandal. In other words, it's only news if Obama didn't kill her. That sad.

Yet Barry Obama and Eric Holder are responsible for "trafficking 2,000 "assault" weapons to the Mexican drug cartels resulting in the deaths of border patrol agent, Brian Terry, ICE agent Jaime Zapata, and hundreds of Mexican citizens with not so much as a slap on the wrist. Way to go, Feds!
