MOBILE, Ala. (WPMI) The man convicted of gunning down another man at a night club two years ago has been sentenced.
Twenty-year-old Cedric Burroughs was convicted in the murder of Darryl Casher last month.
Casher was shot to death outside Club Atlantis in 2011. Police say Burroughs and Casher got into an argument inside the club and it spilled out into the streets.
Burroughs has been sentenced to 50 years in prison.
The prosecution painted a portrait of Burroughs as a young man who was given chance after chance after starting a life of crime at the age of 14. Despite drug screenings, psychological evaluations, anger management programs, commitment to a boot camp, and a last-resort lockup in Youth Services, prosecutors said Burroughs continued breaking the law with tragic consequences.
Burroughs read a written statement before his sentencing, saying he was “extremely remorseful.” But his apology fell on deaf ears.
“I have no remorse for him,” the victim’s mother Dianne Casher told Local 15. “One day, I’m gonna have to forgive him if I want to get where I need to go. But it’s going to be a long process.”
