(MOBILE, Ala.) The National Weather service says it was an EF1 tornado that touched down in the Midtown area early Thursday morning. The twister started near Davidson High School and tore a seven-mile long path from there to Telegraph Road in Prichard.

We were with NWS meteorologists near the Red Cross when they began their damage survey.

"The roofs have we had uplift of the roof decking things like that look at how the roof is connected to the walls and how that's connected to the foundation," Jeff Garmon with the national weather service said.

Part of the roof from the new Red Cross Headquarters building had landed in someone's yard.
