Lightning Strikes Water Mains, Customers Without Water

(MOBILE, Ala.) July 2 – Crews from Mobile Area Water and Sewer System worked through the night to repair two water mains that were struck by lightning Thursday night in west Mobile, leaving people without running water in their homes.

Officials say mains on Lloyds Lane and Hampton Oaks Drive were struck by lightening and burst. MAWSS crews worked through the night to repair the busted water mains, and the crews finished the repairs early Friday morning

Army: Shooting suspect taken off ventilator
A U.S. Army spokesman says the man authorities say went on a shooting spree at Fort Hood has been taken off a ventilator but still remains in intensive care at a military hospital.
