(SPANISH FORT, Ala.) Martha McPherson, 58, is charged with abuse and neglect of an elder as well as second degree domestic violence. The victim, a 72 year old man, is in the hospital in stable condition.
"He sits out there with no clothes on and he got dragged in the house one time that all I saw personally," said a neighbor who didn't want to be identified and told us she rented a house to McPherson.
"There's actually been some discrepancy as to whether they are related or not we are researching that we have had reports that they either be siblings or may be some type of common law," said Baldwin County Sheriff Huey Mack Jr.
McPherson is charged with abuse, neglect and domestic violence.
"I saw them leave last night. I thought he was just going back to the hospital because they said he had cancer but I mean I'm not surprised, " said the neighbor.
"A call was made to 911. He was transported by ambulance we are still trying to determine the origin of the 911 call as to weather it was actually her or not," said Mack. Once at the hospital, doctors reported the elder victim had bruises, abrasions, lacerations, skin tears and other signs of physical abuse.
"We think that there may be some type of diminished mental or emotional issues perhaps on both parties as well as we are looking to see if there was any drug abuse involved," said Mack.
