MOBILE, Ala. (WPMI) - Kathy Noel's heart broke last Friday. After a long day at work, she came home but could tell something was off. One of her cats, Bobo, did not answer when she called. "I just happened to walk past my patio door and I looked out and saw him laying on the mat, and I knew before I even opened the door something was wrong."

It was a long ride to the Animal ER. The cat was motionless and bloody. "When the cat came in he was in shock, had a hard time breathing," veterinarian Gillian Penn said.

An X-Ray revealed the news Noel did not expect. Someone had fired two shots into her pet: one in his leg, the other in his side. "At that point, when she told me he had been shot, I was in shock, I lost it at that point," Noel said.

The injuries were too severe and Bobo died early Saturday morning. Noel was left looking back at the last 3 years. "To have spent that much time with him and then somebody do that...you know," she sobbed.

Sadly it's a case vets see quite often. "Its not uncommon for us to take radiographs for something completely different and find buck shot, bullets and other things inside abdomens or inside a pet for that matter," Penn said.

All Noel can do now is wonder why. It's up to police to find out who.

"I'm a nervous wreck knowing someone out there is willing to just shoot whatever moves."

All to common, and it makes me past angry, but if you think that the police are going to spend one second past taking the report on something like this, I have a bridge to sell you real cheap. There is no money in it. For them or their bosses. So other than to fill out stat sheets, calling the cops was a waste of time and a phone call. Just like calling the cops for anything else is an exercise in futility.
