(MOBILE, Ala.) - Thousands of supporters lined the streets of Prichard, to Mobile, to Theodore on Wednesday, to pay their respects and follow the funeral procession for fallen Officer Steven Green.

Police departments and sheriff's deputies from Mississippi to Florida were in the motorcade. People who didn't even know Officer Green personally showed up for the procession.

Gary MacDonald kept his heart crossed throughout the entire procession. "He gave the ultimate sacrifice for all of the citizens of Mobile."

Kevin Sigler didn't stop saluting until the entire 10-mile motorcade passed by.

"Once you're part of the Blount family, you stay part of the Blount family," Sigler said.

Officer Green was a graduate of Blount High School. On Wednesday, the entire Blount football team lined up, holding flags, to pay solemn respect to Officer Green, a former player.

"It's a very emotional day. Bring the kids out and show them that it's not just football, it's real life," Sigler added.

Billy Holmes and his wife arrived four hours early, waiting for the procession to pass by. "It's pitiful, and we just had to come and do it," Billy said.

Among the crowd were police families. Wives and children, who didn't personally know Officer Green, but nonetheless, were hit hard by the blow.
