(BAY MINETTE, Ala.) - Former Causey Middle School "Teacher of the Year" Charles Lewis received a six-month suspended sentence and a $600 fine in court Wednesday for a DUI charge.

In court today, Lewis admitted prosecutors had enough evidence against him in the DUI charge that a conviction was likely, however he did not plead guilty to the charge.

Lewis is on paid administrative leave from Causey Middle School while prosecutors pursue a charge of child molestation against him in Baldwin County.  Lewis is accused of fondling the 9-year-old child of a friend.

The Mobile County School Board has questioned why complaints from students about Lewis' behavior at school were not reported.  An investigation into that issue is ongoing.
