Sunday Fires Hit Popular MS, LA Restaurants

OCEAN SPRINGS, Miss. (AP)   Fire has hit popular restaurants in Ocean Springs, Miss., and Chalmette, La.

Jackson County, Miss., authorities say The Shed BBQ & Blues Joint burned down early Sunday. St. Bernard Parish fire officials say Rocky & Carlo's restaurant was heavily damaged by a fire reported at 9 a.m. Sunday.

Jackson County Sheriff Mike Byrd tells The Mississippi Press that The Shed is a total loss after a fire that started at 2:30 a.m. It was one of the Gulf Coast's most popular restaurants.

In Chalmette, fire crews raced to Rocky and Carlo's Restaurant about 9 a.m. and put out a fire in the back kitchen. Authorities say the roof, kitchen and surrounding areas were heavily damaged, but the fire was contained.
