The weather will remain mostly the same for one more day before changes arrive Tuesday night and Wednesday. A strong storm system now moving over California and Arizona will track eastward through the day Tuesday into the Plains and south central US. Ahead of this storm, our weather will remain quiet. It will be warm with overnight temperatures around 60, with highs in the mid 70s for Tuesday. A few showers may try to break out during the day west of Mobile, but most areas will remain dry. Winds will increase out of the south to around 10-20 mph through early Wednesday morning.

A line of severe thunderstorms will develop along a stout cold front moving in from the Ark-La-Miss Tuesday evening. The arrival of these storms in Mobile will be early Wednesday morning. Some of the storms may contain damaging winds and tornadoes. This does NOT appear to be as volatile of a setup for our area as Christmas Day, as instability (warmth and moisture combined with colder temperatures aloft) is not as pronounced. The wind energy is plentiful however, and this will help compensate for the lack of instability. Either way, prepare for a round of severe thunderstorms late Tuesday night and early Wednesday. By Wednesday afternoon, cooler air will filter in, and the rain chances will decrease significantly through the day.

Thursday and Friday will be sunny and cooler with highs around 60 and lows in the 30s. Slightly warmer weather returns this weekend, with sunshine continuing.
