(MOBILE COUNTY, Ala.) - Thousands are without power after severe storms ripped through parts of Mobile overnight Thursday. Authorities say a powerful storm peeled the roofs from buildings, toppled some trucks and blew down Oak trees and limbs, leading to some road closures.

The storm hit just before 5 a.m. Crews will be out later today to determine if the damage was caused by a tornado.

Reports of broken poles and downed power lines are coming in to the Local 15 newsroom.

Alabama Power crews are out on the scene, assessing the damage. In Baldwin County, EMA officials tell us there are no current reports of damage.
