(BAYOU LA BATRE, Ala.) - Bayou La Batre mayor Stan Wright will no longer be in charge of the housing and urban development program in his city.
His “Notice of Suspension” says the decision is based on an indictment filed against him, charging Wright in connection with a land swap deal following hurricane Katrina.
The letter says the suspension is necessary to protect the public interest but is temporary, depending on the outcome of the criminal trial.
