(Baldwin County, Ala.) November 12th--From rated to unrated kitchens, this week, Local 15 has the skinny on the places you and your family eat. First stop, Wintzell's Oyster House located in Spanish Fort typically presents what many would consider a "pearl of a score". We checked and they have a history of scores in the 90’s, last time it was 98-out of 100 possible points.

In fact, Scott Wolf a man who identified himself as the manager of the restaurant tells Local 15 he thought he had a handle on the business that is until the "screws" came off of the plumbing. Wolf insists their history of scores proves they’ve mastered the laws of a clean kitchen and there was "not" a problem with the food. Instead, the conscientious manager tells Local 15 he “voluntarily" called the food police and temporarily shut closed their doors after he discovered they didn't have hot water.

We obtained copies of inspector's November 2nd report which shows they were closed 4 days while repairing the problem. November 6th, Wintzell's Oyster House located on Hwy 181 in Spanish Fort passed inspector's white glove test. This week they are open again and operating with an above average score of 95.

Lack of hot water forced inspectors to temporarily close S & A Food Mart in Foley. Though they were only closed for a few hours, inspector's November 6th report shows the dining dangers didn't stop there.  Violations, including food held out of temperature, employees eating and or drinking in the kitchen and they had a dirty ice machine. S&A Foodmart serves up our lowest score this week only 66 out of 100 possible points. Remember, 85 and higher is considered passing.

Though Florida restaurants are not rated and scored, commercial kitchens are held to same sanitary rules. Shuckums, Inc.located at 5365 Stewart Street in Milton and Whataburger Restaurant located at 5347 Stewart Street were temporarily closed last week when inspectors discovered a problem with their water pressure.

Local 15 contacted Whataburger and the manager on duty says they're not totally to blame.  In fact, he insists "someone else" should be in hot water. He tells us there were reports of a water main break and city employees shut down the water to several businesses on the street.

This week, both Shuckum’s and Whataburger are open after the problem was repaired and they passed a re-inspection.  Elsewhere, Stop N Shop located in Magnolia Springs failed to get the “green light” with a below average score of 75.

In and Out Express in Fairhope, “slow” to catch on with a below average score of 80.

It’s certainly not par for the course for Glenlakes Golf Club in Foley. This week Glenlakes is rounding out our bottom three with a score below average score of 80.
