MOBILE, Ala. (WPMI) There is less than a week before the Conde Cavaliers roll through the streets of downtown Mobile. Judging by the amount of RVs in RV City, you'd think the parades were already underway.
It's starting to fill up fast, and more revelers are expected to pack in under the interstate to celebrate the Mardi Gras season in style.
Michelle Miller and her daughter Nina have been parking at RV City for about 8 years. Nina says her favorite part about the camp city is the golf carts.
"Our friends get to ride on it, and this one goes pretty fast. It's fun to go back and forth, back and forth. So it's like a little candy cane golf cart," Nina said.
Folks book the spots well in advance for Mobile's city within the city. Weeks before Mardi Gras takes off, they pull in their RVs, plug them up and wait it out until the first parade.
"We say there's only two seasons of the year here in Mobile and it's Mardi Gras and Alabama football," said Michelle Miller. "It's just a real exciting time of the year for us."
"Every year they have something really new and I just, it's really fun," Nina added.
The downtown camp can hold nearly 200 RVs, and costs $399 to reserve a spot. The city of Mobile rents out the spots.
