MOBILE, Ala. (WPMI) A local economist estimates that Carnival Triumph's arrival in Mobile will have at least a $10 million economic impact on the Port City.

The city will charge Carnival a docking fee, wharfing fees for each passenger, parking fees, clean up costs, etc.

Plus, because the Triumph is now docked inside BAE System's shipyard, the cruise line will most likely be charged a dry docking fee as well.

Economist Semoon Chang said the national average cost for dry docking is about $5 million.

He said the city will benefit if Carnival purchases new furniture and equipment for the ship from Mobile businesses.

City officials still haven't released how much they're charging Carnival for the last minute rescue. But at this point, the city hasn't received a dime from the cruise line.

Will our city council and mayor see fit to use the money they make to pay the debt on the cruise terminal??? Remember, the income from the cruise terminal was "used for other things," leaving the citizens a huge debt to pay off.
