(MOBILE, Ala.) Mobile Police Chief Micheal T. Williams held a press conference late Friday night to speak about the death of Officer Steven Green.

"We are a grieving law enforcement family," Williams said.

Williams says Green was on the force for about two years, and was doing what he described as his life's work.

"He was a dedicated police officer and like many of us this is the profession that he chose," Williams said. "This is what he loved doing."

Mobile Mayor Sam Jones was one of the first to arrive at USA Medical Center to pay his condolences.

"Our entire community is poured out for this," Jones said. "We are all saddened and wish the family our deepest sympathy."

Chief Williams declined to comment on the weapon used to stab Officer Green or specific details leading up to the stabbing.
