(ST. ELMO, Ala.) - The Mobile County Sheriff's Office is investigating a bizarre case out of St. Elmo, after a church pastor was tased, and a woman was stabbed during a fight.

It happened at the New Welcome Baptist Church after Sunday service.

Simone Moore is a self proclaimed R&B artist, he ran unsuccessfully for the US Senate, and he's a teacher in Mobile County. Now, Moore is wanted by the Mobile County Sheriff's Office after authorities say he tased Rev. Daryl Riley.

Deputies say it all started when Moore, who worked as the Minister of Music was handed his last paycheck, and told by Rev. Riley that his services were no longer needed. Investigators say that's when Moore tased the pastor.

A fight ensued, and deputies say Harvey Hunt, a deacon at the church, pulled out a pocket knife and began stabbing Moore's mother, Agolia, in the arm.

Six people were injured in the fight, all have been released from the hospital.

Lashea Gray lives near the church, she told us, "It was unbelievable for it to be at that church, a lot of people go there, never heard of any problems. That was shocking to me to see that going on."

Warrants have been signed for both Moore and Hunt.

I am sitting here and trying to figure out why is it that churches would go and hire an R&B singer to be their music director. Why would they want to bring that type of influence into their churches? (I know its to encourage growth through mind stimulating music). Worldly minded people cannot understand the things of God because they are not spiritual minded. This guy proved that he was simple in t for the money, nothing more. Pastor, remember, you get what you deserve of pay for. Now sit back and take a look at the impact this has had on your congregation. Even with these posts your church has become a joke to the on lookers. better not to have music in the church then to have the wrong spirit bringing it.

Obviously there is a problem with this write up. Mr. Moore knew he was being fired. The Pastor feared Moore and gave him his check publicly to try to protect himself. The Deacon bit seems to be a little incongruent. Was he trying to stop Moore and got intercepted by one of Moore's Supporters? Going after someone with a pen knife sounds like a desperation move. Unlike Moore who was completely prepared, the deacon wasn't. Most country folks carry multi-tools, pen knives, etc. on their belts all the time.

When God closes one door, he opens up another.... OR he makes sure you're packing a taser. Good luck to Simone Moore on his next run for the U.S. Senate ... OR for the border!

Would someone please explain to the author of this article that run-on sentences are improper? Two in one very short story is two too many. "Six people were injured in the fight, all have been released from the hospital." This should be two separate sentences.

msjazz: You don't really know what people are like by the face they present in public. A lot of really foul people seem like the nicest guys in public, like serial killers who meet the president (John Wayne Gacy) or are deacons in their church (Dennis Lynn Rader, the BTK strangler).

msjazz please tell us why Simon Moore brought a taser to church and is now on the run from the police. If he felt threatened and was only acting in self defense #1 he wouldnt have been there armed already and #2 he would have not run from the cops. Please dont make up excuses for criminal behavior, especially when it happens in a church.

(Titus 1:16) . . .They publicly declare they know God, but they disown him by their works, because they are detestable and disobedient and not approved for good work of any sort. That pretty much says it all.
