(ORANGE BEACH, Ala.) - A man has been arrested and charged for the shooting death of his friend on the Alabama coast.

Jon Washington told police it was an accident, but tonight, he's behind bars charged with murder.

Police say the suspect and the victim had been acquaintances for about 8 or 10 years. Kenneth Myers was found shot in the home on Marina Road early Wednesday.

"He was a suspect all along, because he was the only other one in the house," says Assistant Orange Beach Police Chief Greg Duck.

Washington also says he was shot in the forehead, although that was only a grazing wound.

"He was treated and released from the hospital that same morning," says Duck

Washington turned himself in after leaving the hospital.

It's the first murder investigation in Orange Beach in 5 years.
