Officials: Man Escapes Before Arrest, Found Hiding Under House

MOBILE COUNTY, Ala. (WPMI) Deputies have arrested a man they say escaped while waiting to go to jail Wednesday morning.

It happened around 10 a.m. at the Mobile County Courthouse.

Officials say Deven Stephens appeared in court Wednesday morning. He was scheduled to be taken to jail when he disappeared.

Deputies found Stephens hiding under a house in Chickasaw.
