(MOBILE, Ala.) - Mobile Police have arrested a teacher on charges of Transmitting Obscene Material to a Child.

Darrell La Void Tyler, a P.E. Coach at The Continuous Learning Center, was arrested at his home on Tuesday afternoon.

Police say Tyler sent obscene pictures via text message to a 13-year-old girl over a period of two days in February.  The girl's mother found the pictures and alerted police.

The Mobile County School System tells LOCAL 15 News Tyler is on paid administrative leave. He's been an employee of the school system since 2006.

But this isn't the first time a teacher with Mobile Co. has been in trouble with the law. Causey Middle School teacher Charles Lewis was arrested in January for allegedly sexually abusing a 9-year-old boy, outside of the classroom.

"It's hard to stop, because in the end if a person has the mindset to do something wrong than more than likely they're gonna do it," said Mobile County School Board member Levon Manzie.

Manzie says the School Board is dealing with the reports of alleged teacher misconduct, and the schools need to be better about monitoring their staff.

All teachers in Mobile County undergo a background check before employment, but Manzie says after that, there's not a whole lot more they can do.

"In the end, grown-ups need to be grown-ups and not prey on young children," Manzie said.

I would bet this guy gets the Bishop State thief treatment. It's been almost 4 years and the 26 people accused of stealing financial aid money from Bishop State have yet to be prosecuted by John Tyson and Ashley Rich. Nikki Patterson and all the Assistant DA's should be thrown out of office along with Tyson. They are waiting on the statue of limitations to expire so they won't have to prosecute the thieves and make them pay back the money they stole. Another example of the Mobile County Judicial System corrupt practices.

Another 'Paid while on Administrative Leave' person that will lay around the crib for a year or two watching porn daily while John Tyson and Ashley Rich drag their feet in prosecuting this perv. The AEA has made sure these pervs get their due process, along with an extended paid vacation. The fleecing of the taxpayers continue.

Let's see. An obscene image to a minors phone, sent from the teachers phone. Phone records of both parties can be obtained the same day. This will take a year to complete by the DA office. And he'll probably get probation, plea out, and not have to register. Oh and we will pay him for that year till the verdict or plea is made.

Is it any wonder why the Mobile County Public School System is failing to properly educate our children... just look at the teachers and coaches they hire!
