NatalieJ The Best that you can do is have a open relationship with your child. I remember when my daughter was in six grade picking her up on friday afternoon and her telling me that she was invited to a party. She did not go because her words there was going to be POT at the party! I tell you what at that point I looked the other way and THANKED GOD! Talk openly to your child about peer pressure and the consequenceies of their actions. As a Parent my choices have not always been popular...but they have worked!

Natalie- Semmes Middle is a great school. This could happen anywhere. You are right- you can only educate your child (and perhaps his/her friends).

This really worries me,my child will be entering the 6th grade at Semmes next year. And this is really prevelent nowadays,Rx abuse is groing by leaps and bounds. All we can do is communicate and educate our children and try to steer then in the right direction

Send the so called child to Strickland. Investigate where the child obtained the perscription drugs and put them in jail too. If this goes unpunished what message does that send. Aren't the schools "Drug Free Zones"? Then there should be even a stiffer sentence. If this student and others see that this behavior will land them in jail, things will change. But only if disciplined....thats discipline not blaming someone else.

This is more common than people think - a boy in my child's 6th grade class was caught selling Lortab at school. He was only suspended for 3 days.
