(LONDON) - Mobile Mayor Sam Jones, along with a large contingent of representatives from the city, Mobile County, and the state of Alabama, are at the Farnborough Airshow.
It's the premier event that attracts the world's largest aerospace companies, and the governments and leaders looking to bring them to their areas.
Mayor Jones says a full slate of meetings are set to build on the huge impact that Airbus assembly plant will have on our area. They are working to provide opportunities to other businesses who might want to ride on the coattails of Airbus after they decided to build a huge assembly plant at the Brookley Aeroplex.
Because of the magnitude of the project, the Mayor says chances are very good, several more companies will be headed our way.
LOCAL 15 spoke with the mayor from London Monday night about those prospects.
"We think we have the opportunity to land some other prospects in a very, very short period of time," said Mayor Jones.
"Airbus has to come up with their construction schedule, their plan for when they really want to put everything on the ground. most of the suppliers will be following with their plans after they see Airbus' plans," Jones said.
Meetings with prospective companies continues Tuesday and Wednesday in London.
