MSCO Bought $340K Plane During Budget Crunch

Despite a budget crunch and not having enough money to promote deputies, the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office still managed to buy a $340,000 plane last year.

Alright...Sheriff Sam looked mighty uncomfortable but ambushes have a way of doing that. Actually, seeing how Mobile County is nearly 1300 square miles, a plane is probably a good idea. I also think the MCSO (and the City of Mobile) should have helicopters in the air during good weather. In the interest of fairness a good reporter would have found out how much the plane is actually worth. It cost $340K, if is worth $400 the County got a deal. On the other hand if it's worth $275K there's a rotten egg somewhere. It does however seem that trips to Atmore and Biloxi are questionable, since you can make both trips by car in less than a hour and not need ground transportation once you get there!
