MOBILE, Ala. (WPMI) The Mary G. Montgomery teacher accused of having a sexual relationship with a student, turned herself in Monday afternoon.

Alicia Gray, 28, turned herself in to Metro Jail at around 3:30 p.m.

"Her attorney, she was able to make arrangements to turn herself in today. She was given a deadline of this afternoon to do so," said Mobile County Sheriff's Department Spokesperson Joe Mahoney.

Gray bonded out at around 5:30 p.m. Her bond was $23,500. Gray is charged with sexual contact with a student under age 19 by a school employee, two counts of sodomy, and sexual abuse.

The victim's attorney David Greene stated, "You trust the school personnel with your children and when the individual was entrusted with your kids is now accused of molesting your 14-year-old child. That is a very traumatic situation."

Greene said the family is relieved by Gray's arrest but angry.

"They are just absolutely heart broken, shocked, and they're hurt," said Greene.

He added, "They're very upset, and they are they're having and dealing with as best they can at this point."

Greene stated the 14-year-old boy has not been to school since the last week and is struggling to get his life back to normal.

"The fact that this young man is now scarred because a person in authority who was placed in authority took advantage of him," said Greene.

He added, "that was a misuse of power and when we pursue the civil case, we will be asking for a substantial amount of money for the damages.

The Mobile County School System's insurance company will cover the lawsuit settlement and this has a long reaching effect. The insurance company will raise the rates and the system will pay more for insurance to cover this one and future lawsuits. Therefore this teacher if found guilty will have caused the system more money, the students and good teachers lesser resources and the filthy lawyers on every side win again from a crime. BTW.... all you pro child abusers showing her some love and support, it's 'presumed' innocent until found guilty by a court of justice, not the court of public opinion.

Ever seen "To Catch a Predator?" The whole premise is a supposedly 15-year-old girl inviting men over to have sex. She's "consenting," yet in the eyes of the law and the public, these men are predators because the girl "doesn't know what she's doing" and can't truly consent. It's not always about physically forcing someone. You think there aren't 14-year-old girls who enjoy sex? Who knows how this 14-year-old boy is going to feel about this in ten years? The fact is that he is still considered a child under the law, and anyone defending the teacher (if she is indeed guilty) are hypocrites and sexists supporting a child molester.

Some of these comments are amazing. Can you imagine a 28-year-old male teacher and a 14-year-old female student? There would be a lynch mob demanding the creepy pedophile's head on a platter, and no one would get away with saying, "Oh, she liked it. She bragged about it to her friends, so it's okay. Her family's just after money."

LouLou, while I agree that questions should be asked, I would like to point out that men can in fact be raped by women. It happens all the time, but goes unreported due to embarrassment and social stigma that nobody would believe the victim due to comments like yours. Men can be raped by women by method of lacing their drink with Viagra or another "helper" drug, and other various methods.

I smell a rat in the wood pile sounds like these people are just out for money what a shame and a disgrace if this is the case.I do not know either party involved here.Everybody just remember you are innocent until proven guilty the media of course will hang this lady high and dry in the square downtown.Try and keep and open mind, people get accused of crimes but that does not make them guilty.I can not pass any judgement the truth will come out in the end...

Traumatized??!! My ass, that little boy is full of crap!! Knowing the teacher and her family all of my life, I don't believe him. Where the HELL WHERE THE PARENTS??? Why is no one asking this question? He can't drive, so how did he end up alone and away from campus? He checked himself out of school, left for hours, and returned. The school never put themselves responsible to wonder what he was doing? IF this did happen, he was not forced and bragged about it. Not to mention how does a man get forced into sex by a woman? The anatomy of the situation alone doesn't work. I don't believe it and she is INNOCENT until proven guilty. Nothing like Mobilians forgetting that there is more than one side to every story. Mrs. Gray is someone's daughter. The 14 year old "victim" gets to be totally in the shadows, which if indeed if he is a "victim" he deserves but there is more than one family with a heavy heart. Mrs. Gray's family and friends are heavily heartbroken. She is not the woman she is being portrayed as, she is a bright, intelligent, honest, good hearted, upstanding and classy woman and always has been. Prayers to everyone that this story touches.
