BALDWIN COUNTY, Ala. (WPMI) - An unloaded handgun was found in a student's backpack at Baldwin County High School Thursday.

School administrators received a phone call from a parent who said there possibly could be a gun in a student's backpack. "They went straight to the backpack and handed it to police. All less than 3 min," School District Spokesperson Terry Wilhite said in an email Thursday.

The gun was not loaded, although bullets were found elsewhere in the backpack, he said. Wilhite There was no need to place the school under a lockdown because school officials were able to find the gun so quickly. "Kudos to parent, school administrators and police," Wilhite wrote.

No students were threatened and no students were harmed.

Bay Minette Police arrested two students, whose names have not been released. Local 15 News Reporters Derrick Rose and Frank Morales are working to gather new information on this developing story. Look for their updates on Local 15 News at 6 and 10.

Yea, they'll probably blame this on the NRA also! I haven't seen a gun yet that would move from place to place on it's on and kill anyone, yet the gun gets the blame! If the feds would keep the hell out of other peoples' business and let the parents discipline their kids like they used to do without threat of being thrown in jail, and quit feeding all those pills to the kids under the guise of some sort of medical problem which it isn't, you'd see this kind of thing come to a stop! Between the feds handcuffing the parents and keeping them from disciplining their kids and the women that do nothing but screw and have kids for a living, not even having the slightest idea who the father is, this sort of thing is going to continue until we all are forced to take the law in to our own hands. I think that by the feds own actions on gun control lately, they see this coming in the future and are trying to remove all guns they possibly can from the people with at least half a brain! We can stop this crap but our hands are being tied daily by the feds and the politically correct! The criminals will be able to rule then because slingshots and knives are no match for the guns. Also when Obama and Holder are held accountable for their actions selling assault rifles and giving the green light to be taken across the border and used to kill some of our own lawmen, then and only then, I'll listen to a little of this gun control boloney that the feds are suddenly so concderned about. This "do as I say, not as I do" mentality of the feds has to go!

Back in my day, someone may bring a gun to school for some special reason. But they would probably ask permission first...and usually get it- with limits. This day and time...with all the trouble across the nation, I can not imagine a sufficient excuse. Every student today should know that guns are not allowed in school. Anyone who tries to say they did not know....probably doesn't need to be in school.
