(MOBILE, Ala.)   For a bus load of Blount High School students, Friday's ride home was anything but normal.

As their bus made its way south on Moffett Road, it would collide with a passenger car at the corner of Moffett and University Avenue.

The crash would injure the drive of the car, the bus driver and two students, but none of the seriously.

Blount junior Darius Jones was one of the students caught off guard.

"I can't even explain it cause it happened so fast," he said. "Somebody behind me started screaming as hard as they could."

Mobile police weren't quite ready to assign blame for the accident, but Pat Mitchell, supervisor of transportation for the Mobile County Public School System come to this conclusion.

"We had a motorist who apparently ran a stop sign," said Mitchell, "and came out into the intersection when the bus was traveling East and struck the vehicle that ran the stop sign."

The white sedan involved in the accident was towed from the scene showing heavy damage. The drive, who spent more than 30 minutes perched on a curb, was eventually loaded into an ambulance and taken to the hospital.

The remaining students were then loaded on a bus to continue their journey home.

At 6 p.m., none of those involved in the accident had been identified by police.
