PENSACOLA, Fla. (WPMI) A woman died early Thursday morning after a car crash in Pensacola.

It happened about 400 feet east of Inverness Drive off Bayou Boulevard. Twenty-three-year-old Michelle Thrush died at the scene.

Officials say Thrush was driving westbound when her car went off the road and hit a small brick column then a tree near Woodbine Drive.

A passerby contacted authorities around 2 a.m. after seeing Thrush's car against the tree. Officials say they are working to figure out how long the car was there before someone spotted it.

The crash remains under investigation.

This is the first traffic fatality of the year within city limits.
