(CANTONMENT, Fla.) Florida Highway Patrol says a dog is to blame for the death of its owner.

The bizarre accident happened on Desoto Road in Cantonment Monday morning.

Troopers say James Campbell got out of the car to open the metal gates at the home. Troopers say Iris Fortner, who was in the driver's seat, opened the door on the driver's side, and her Boxer Bull dog jumped into the car, causing the accelerator to be depressed.

The car backed over Campbell, pinning him under the front right side of the car. Campbell was pronounced dead on the scene.
