SPANISH FORT, Ala. (WPMI) Former Bama football commit and Spanish Fort star wide receiver Deon Johnson is behind bars again, facing resisting arrest charges on top of existing rape allegations.
This week a judge ordered Johnson’s bond revoked after he allegedly contacted one of his alleged victims and had sexually explicit conversations with other underage females on-line.
According to a motion to revoke bond from the Baldwin County District Attorney’s Office, on Feb. 25 Johnson “was found in possession of a computer which he was using to communicate with underage females about sexual encounters he was intending to have with them.”
“It was contact that caused us great concern,” Assistant District Attorney Teresa Heinz told Local 15.
According to Heinz, Daphne Police executed the arrest warrant while Johnson was at school.
“I believe he tried to flee and he was later brought into custody,” Heinz told Local 15.
Johnson is currently behind bars without bond. Heinz said there’s a possibility his defense attorney could file a motion to change his status, but it would ultimately be the judge’s decision whether or not Johnson would be released again.
“We do not see that he is fit to be out on bond,” Heinz. “Our top priority is the safety of our public and the safety of our victims.”
