(MOBILE, Ala.) - Mobile County Sheriff's Office executed a search warrant Wednesday on the home of a Mary G. Montgomery High School teacher who, investigators said, is rumored to be involved in an ongoing sexual relationship with a student there.
Investigators said no charges have been filed against the teacher, and Local 15 News will not release the identity of the teacher until charges are filed.
Mobile County Sheriff's Lt. Paul Burch said the ongoing sexual relationship came to light when the victim told his parents, who then contacted the school.
"The student is 14 years of age," Burch said, "Depending on discussions with the district attorney office, there are a number of charges that could be levied in the case."
While completing the search of the woman's home on Tanner Williams Road, Burch said investigators discovered some items in the home relevant to the case.
"We have found some items of interest, and they are being collected by our crime scene unit," Burch said, "I can't get into any of the specific evidence, but, again, there will be some items that were taken."
Burch said the teacher was not home during the search, but he said she has hired an attorney in the case.
"The husband is here, and has been cooperative," Burch said.
Burch said the case will need careful examination as the possible charges against the educator could be serious.
"Once our reports are completed, we'll consult with the DA's office and decide on charges and determine when an arrest, if any, will be made," Burch said.
