(DAUPHIN ISLAND, Ala.) - Dauphin Island Police Chief Darryl Wilson has resigned. His last day on the job was February 9.
Local 15 News has learned Wilson has been offered a deputy position with the Mobile County Sheriff's Office. Lieutenant Kym Claw will take over duties as interim police chief for the time being.
"We're disappointed that he's decided to leave us, but we understand and we let him go with wishes of support," said Dauphin Island Mayor Jeff Collier.
Wilson was named chief of the department in June of 2012. Before that, he was a captain with the Bayou La Batre Police Department.
You may remember Wilson for his role in the investigation against Lam Luong, the man accused of throwing his four children from the Dauphin Island bridge. Wilson is also a witness in the ongoing corruption case against Bayou La Batre Mayor Stan Wright.
