Man Arrested for DUI and Drug Possession
(THEODORE, Ala.) Dec. 31-Norman Hare promised Corporal Steve Smith, he'd only had one beer and a burrito. "I want you to blow through that tube and don't stop until I tell you to, Ok? Blow, blow, blow, blow, blow," said Smith.
But Hare blew .14, almost double the legal limit.
"I don't want to go to jail, sir," said Hare. Hare didn't get his wish. "You're under arrest for driving under the influence of alcohol. Oh man!"
Troopers say not only did Hare have too much Natural Ice to drink, he also had crack in his truck. "Was that your crack?" asked Local 15 Reporter Andrea Ramey. "No, ma'am," replied Hare.
While Hare tried to say the drugs weren't his, the crack rocks found in his hat were much harder to deny. "Man, that's yours, said Smith." "Yeah, that's mine," said Hare.
Smith discovered Hare because he didn't have a tag on his truck. But Thursday night, they'll be dozens of troopers not just patrolling the highways but also conducting checkpoints in Mobile and Baldwin counties.
"The public can expect there to be a strong trooper presence out there. We want everyone to have a good time. We know it's New Year's Eve but we want everyone to be safe," said Smith.
