(MOBILE COUNTY, Ala.) Mobile County's district Attorney is pushing for the young victims in one sex child abuse case to testify against their alleged attacker.

But the district attorney also wants to reserve the right to have someone testify for the child.

23-year-old Jacob Johansen is charged with sex counts of rape, eight counts of sodomy and four counts of sexual abuse of a child under the age of 12.

I'd be the first to put a bullet into the head of a child molester if there was evidence beyond a reasonable doubt, but I thought that in the American criminal justice system an accused had the right to face and cross examine his accuser. Where did this testimony by proxy come from? If the victim doesn't testify then the victim's testimony isn't what will convict the accused if he's convicted, and that sounds like an unfair trial even taking into consideration the difficulty the child may have in testifying him\herself. If I were on a jury and someone else testified on behalf of the victim then I would have to acquit the accused.
