(MOBILE, Ala.) - Mobile City Councilwoman Connie Hudson defeated Democratic challenger Tommy Thompson in Tuesday’s general election to win the Mobile County Commission Seat in District 2.

Hudson, received 6,962 votes to Thompson’s 1,013.

“It’s humbling to win by a margin like this and I’m grateful for the support I’ve gotten,” said Hudson.

Hudson will take over the seat vacated by former Mobile County Commissioner Steve Nodine, currently facing a murder charge for the death of his girlfriend Angel Downs.

County Commissioners receive $79,000 a year plus expenses.

Hudson said she will be sworn in as the District 2 commissioner on Sept. 1.

Unfortunately Hudson won and District 2 and the Country will suffer...however, on the bright side, she's off the City Council!
