PENSACOLA, Fla. (WPMI) Deputies in Escambia County, Fla. have arrested a woman charged with robbing a bank and telling officers she had a bomb.

Forty-eight-year-old Mary E. Pritchett was arrested Friday evening. Officials say she robbed the Beach Community Bank on North Palafox Street, then took off but not before claiming she had a bomb.

Pritchett told authorities her son had been abducted and the suspect forced her to rob the bank to get her son back.

Officers closed down Nine Mile Road and Palafox Street, while the State Fire Marshal investigated.

During questioning, Pritchett admitted to officers that she made up the story, and that she in fact does not have a son. Pritchett said there was never a bomb in the vehicle.

Pritchett is charged with robbery with a deadly weapon.
