(BAYOU LA BATRE, Ala.) - The grant writer in Bayou La Batre convicted of conspiring to commit fraud, embezzlement and money laundering was sentenced to federal prison Friday.
Janey Galbraith will spend three months in federal prison, and will pay a $75,000 fine.
Federal prosecutors say Galbraith worked with Bayou La Batre Mayor Stan Wright in a scheme to swap land and misuse federal disaster funds after Hurricane Katrina.
"I am so sincerely sorry for this horrible mess. I'm ashamed of the heartache my actions have caused," Galbraith said in court Friday.
