(AUBURN, Ala.) Gus Malzahn has accepted the head football coaching job at Auburn University.

Malzahn was former offensive coordinator at Auburn and is currently head coach at Arkansas State University.

Arkansas State University released this statement late Tuesday afternoon regarding Malzahn:

"Coach Gus Malzahn informed us this afternoon that he would be accepting the head coaching position at Auburn University. We appreciate his contributions to our conference championship season and wish him well."

I suppose that when you are a person that buries the bodies it's a smart mover to come back and guard the graveyard when the gravediggers from the NCAA come calling. This is a move to circumvent the NCAA's investigation by giving Gus Malzahn the job so he won't squeal to the NCAA. Why else would they hire a coach that just quit Auburn less than a year ago? Perhaps Auburn will give him a 4 million dollar a year 5 year contract and have to pay him 12 million dollars as a buy-out in two years like the 6 million Tuberville got and the 7 million that Chizik gets. Auburn is spending more on ex coaches buy-out salaries than Alabama is paying Nick Saban each year.

I am extremely surprised that could find anybody who would take the job unless it was some unheard of high school coach in the backwoods! I hope Malzahn insists on a IRON CLAD UNBREAKABLE CONTRACT for at least ten years with a payout of at least $20 million to him if Auburn breaks it for ANY REASON!
