(MOBILE, Ala.) Coach Gus Malzahn is back on the plains and fans are talking.

"Obviously when Gus Malzahn left the Auburn program, a lot left with him," said Bo Megginson, President of the Mobile County Auburn Club.

He believes 2013 will be a good year.

"Coach Malzahn was a wonderful representative for Auburn when he was here. He was an integral component to us winning the national championship. He'll bring an exciting brand of football, one that people are familiar with him. Auburn people are familiar with him and his family," said Megginson. "With Gus Malzahn you know you're going to get an offensive innovator. A brand of football that's extremely exciting and very attractive to young athletes. That's easy to recruit to. I think the players he was able to bring in from an offensive perspective show that."

"I think it's a really good thing, actually. I think a lot of people think Cam Newton carried that team, but he had an amazing offensive coordinator," said Auburn fan Trevor Grantham.

A lot of folks are weighing in on facebook, too.

Tim Street says, "I think there were better candidates to choose from, but Malzahn is our coach. War Eagle!"

Julie Rosado says, "I think he will do a much better job. Auburn fans deserve a good coach, just like Alabama fans do. Don't forget, both teams are the pride of the state of Alabama."

Malzahn had great success at Arkansas State as head coach this season and served as Auburn's offensive coordinator from 2009 to 2011, including when the Tigers went 14-0, clinching the 2010 BCS National Championship.

Auburn made the announcement Tuesday afternoon, just nine days after firing Gene Chizik.

Tigers went 0-8 in the SEC this year.
