(DECATUR, Ala.) Decatur police say they've arrested a convicted sex offender for living under a bridge in the north Alabama city.

Police say Ronald William Flick Jr. is charged under Alabama's sex offender registration law with failing to provide an address that complies with statutes.

Authorities say Flick was released from state prison on Oct. 2 and reported to police three days later saying he was homeless.

Police say they arrested Flick last week after he showed up at police headquarters saying he wanted to continue living under a bridge in the city.

Authorities say the 38 year old Flick was arrested and will be held in the Morgan County Jail.

A lawyer who represented Flick when he pleaded guilty to sexual abuse in 2008 didn't immediately return a call seeking comment.

The people of Alabama should anticipate the "loosening" of sex offender laws when stories appear like this. Rather than the state doing the job its paid to do, Vocal registry critics slither out from the woodwork to abolish the registry. Dont be fooled, if a sex offender is living under a bridge? Its because he has burnt everyone he has crossed and shouldnt be free in the first place. If the public genuinely dissected these offenders crimes? You would wonder why a needle hasnt been stuck in their arms..
