(MOBILE, Ala.) - Five thousand dollars was raised Tuesday night at The Brick Yard in downtown Mobile for Officer Steven Green's Family.

The Mobile Police and Fire Pension Board says there's no provision in their pension plan for a line of duty death. That means, Green's family will receive very little money from his pension.

Organizers say they're overwhelmed at the response.

"It ended up being a lot bigger than we expected, but that's obviously a good thing, because we're trying to raise as much money as possible," organizer Jonathan Freidlander said. "All the donations are going straight to the family."

If you would like to donate to Officer Green's family, an account has also been set up at Community Bank and Mortgage. You can donate at any branch.
