Workout Wednesday: Take Your Workout On The Road
(MOBILE, Ala.) If you are traveling for Christmas or New Year's, it's not an excuse to skip your workout. Bodies By Cindy shows us how to keep your workout routine going while you are on the road.
Cindy Ross says two things you can pack in your bag to help you stay active on vacation are a jumprope and an resitance band. “That way it doesn't matter if there is a gym nearby, I can can get a workout in a 3 foot by 3 foot area,” says Ross.
Ross says in a small space -- and short time -- you can get a meaningful workout in. “Just use ten minutes, do something fast. Create a little circuit in your house whether it be in the bedroom that you are staying in or in the basement.”
If you have a step or a sturdy chair -- put it to use. “Use that step,” says Ross. “You can do tricep dips. You can do running up and running down and just getting the heart rate up.”
Ross also suggests suggests situps – even if you don’t have a partner. “Find a couch or maybe under the bed in your room, wedge your feet underneath.”
After 10 to 15 of those, try 10 to 15 pushups and then 30 seconds to a minute of running in place. You want to split strength exercises with cardio.
Ross says. “Just do 50/50 because you want to get a little strength so you are burning fat for hours on end. You want to be burning fat as you are eating all those calories for the holidays.”
Repeat everything in your mini workout twice -- and it will help you keep the holiday pounds away.
