(MOBILE, Ala.) - The new year is just a week away, and for many of us that means setting some new fitness goals. So how do we make sure we don't fall off the wagon before January is over? That's the topic of this week's Workout Wednesday.
Rex King has been working out at Bodies by Cindy for months. He's come a long way, and is a real-life example that if you stick to a plan you'll get to your goals.
"I've lost about 22 pounds," Rex says. "I have many more to go, but Cindy and her team here encourage me so well, and I can't stop."
Rex tries to fit in several workouts each week, pushing himself during every session. To carry him into the new year, Rex has a new goal.
"Lay off the fried foods," he says. "It's hard to resist, especially down south, in Mobile on the coast."
Notice that Rex picked one main goal to focus on. Cindy says setting realistic goals one at a time is key.
"Try to go for three to five days a week for working out, and just shoot for a pound a week," Cindy says. "If you have 60 or 70 pounds to lose or more, don't think about the big goal. Small goals. Baby steps."
What's more, actually being able to reach those small goals will encourage you to push harder toward the next one.
"Get your friends involved, get your family involved," Cindy suggests. "The more people you have around you supporting you, I think you're going to be able to stick to those goals better."
