(PASCAGOULA, Miss.) The Jackson County Board of Supervisors has moved forward with plans for the new jail.
The Goldberg Group-Architects, PC presented a floor plan and a construction schedule to the board for approval on Monday.
Board of Supervisors President John McKay said all approvals are contingent on compliance with ordinances in the city of Pascagoula.
McKay said the Goldberg Group will also present a cost analysis to the board to ensure all plans are within the budget for the project.
The Sun Herald reports the new jail will be designed and constructed for $30,000,000.
The jail will hold 700 to 800 beds and will include two- to four-man cells rather than 30 to 40 inmates to a space.
