(GULFPORT, Miss.) Officials say the Gulf Coast beach at Harrison County was relatively clean after the New Year's holiday

Chuck Loftis, director of the Harrison County Sand Beach Authority, told The Sun Herald that there was very little debris from fireworks along the 26-mile stretch of beach.

Loftis said crews began picking up trash and emptying cans in Gulfport and Biloxi on Wednesday. Because employees are working only two days this week, it likely will take until next week to get everything cleaned up and the trash cans emptied.
