(BIRMINGHAM, Ala.) Residents in some Birmingham neighborhoods are voicing concerns about a proposed expansion of railroad tracks.
WBRC-TV reports that guards kept a state lawmaker and some residents out of an emotional meeting about the issue on Thursday night.
Birmingham Democratic Rep. John Rogers says the armed security officers refused to let him in the meeting at a Birmingham housing complex.
CSX spokewoman Jane Covington says her company didn't make the decision to close the meeting. Covington says the meeting was to explain to the complex residents about the part of the expansion that will run behind their development.
Resident Venida Manning says trains already shake her whole apartment in the pre-dawn hours, and she's concerned that plans to add a second track might make the noise and vibrations worse.
