Deal or Dud: Salon Express
(MOBILE, Ala.) - How would you like to have beautiful designer nails like these without having to go to the salon and pay a fortune? The makers of Salon Express, the do it yourself designer nail kit, claim you can get professional results right at home in just minutes, with any nail polish you choose.
The directions say you just get the polish paint it onto the disk, and wipe off the excess with the razor blade and then you stamp it onto the nail.
Nail tech Heather Farnell at Bellasia Spa in Mobile says detailed patterns can be time consuming. "It's an extra ten to fifteen minutes. 54:26 it's better to do it with paint and a brush, you have to have little tiny brushes, it's typically five to ten dollars per nail," says Farnell.
She went to work on my nails to find out if we could get the same results as on the commercial. "We polished all the nails that was the base under the design, and when we went to the stencil on it didn't work very well," says Farnell.
One stamp attempt after another, Heather couldn't figure out what the design was. Either it smeared or didn't show up at all. "I just don't think the whole technique was good because when you took the little scraper it basically scraped all the paint off, so it was hard to get the stamp on there," says Farnell.
In your opinion is this a deal or dud? "It's a dud," says Farnell.
